| Tying
Instructions by Dave Gelona |
 |
wrap the eyes in at the hook bend on top
of the shank. |
 |
Tie in a length of body material in front
of the eyes. |
 |
Tie in a few strands of Pearl Flashabou
Mirage in the center, in front of the body material. |
 |
Tie in the tip end of grizzly saddle
hackle in front of the flash. Be sure to stroke the fibers backwards
on the hackle before tying it in so the fibers stick out. |
 |
Grasping all the flash together, wrap it
forward around the shank to the eye and tie off. Clip the flash with a
little bit extending past the eye. |
 |
Wrap the body material over the flash to
the eye. Be sure to leave a little room at the eye to tie in the
saddle and buck tail. |
 |
Palmer (wrap) the hackle forward to the
eye, making the wrap spacing closer together as you get closer to the hook
eye. |
 |
Flip the hook over in the vice.
Carefully cut the hackle fibers off the top of the shank (under the hook
bend), making sure not to cut the hackle stem or thread. |
 |
Tie in a sparse length of green buck tail
on top of the shank. Make sure it all stays on top, or the fly may not
ride correctly in the water. Clip the fibers the same length past
the hook eye as you did the flash. Whip finish and coat wraps with cement. |
