Jiggy Fleye
Tying
Instructions by Frank Mihalic
1: Slide the jiggy head down the hook
shank so that the notches will seat on the eye of the hook. Put the hook
in the vice.
2:
Wrap up to three wraps of .025 lead wire around the hooks shank. Trim and
slide into the cavity in the rear of the jiggy head.
3: Start the thread close to the head.
4:
Tie white bucktail in very close to the head being sure to keep all of the
tying materials on top of the hooks shank.
5:
Add flash on top of the white bucktail. Trim so that the strands are
different lengths, and a few extend a bit past the longest bucktail.
6:
Tie in yellow bucktail that is the same length as the white on top of the
flash. Again, be sure to keep all of the tying materials on top of the
hooks shank. Whip finish and trim.
7:
Insert stick on eye in the cavity on the side of the jiggy head. If you
are using a cone head, put eye on and wrap over it with several turns of
monofilament tying thread before finishing.
8:
Coat wraps with a bit of 5 minute epoxy being sure to coat the wraps and
just a bit of the bucktail. Add a small amount on each eye will make them
more durable and realistic. Rotate the fly by hand, or in a drying wheel
until the epoxy is set.

Top water fishing provides the most
exciting strike, we can all agree? Striped Bass are very fond of a popping
bug chugging along a grassy edge in the low light of Dawn and Dusk. Bass
often slap the popper...
